What You’ll Do

  • Our Team Lead Big Data Engineer will work on the collecting, storing, processing, and analyzing of large sets of data and leading a team of Big Data Developers
  • 50% of time will be devoted to development and 50% for leading the team of developers (understanding the big picture, breaking down large chunks of work into specific stories/tasks, effectively redistributing the work among developers)
  • The Wealth Management Data Strategy project aims at building a data lake ingesting all available data sources across the wealth management group and becoming a single go-to place for serving all future data needs. Having the data ingested and pre-processed, it serves visualization layers including Tableau reports (first phase) and later a web-based portal
  • During development, primary focus will be on choosing optimal solutions to use for these purposes, then maintaining, implementing, and monitoring them. You will also be responsible for integrating them with the architecture used across the company

What You Have

  • Track record of leadership/management skills or team lead experience
  • Good knowledge of Big Data querying tools, such as Pig, Hive, and Impala
  • Experience with Spark over Python API (PySpark)
  • Good understanding of SQL queries, joins, stored procedures, relational schemas
  • Knowledge of various ETL techniques and frameworks, such as Flume
  • Proficient understanding of distributed computing principles
  • Management of Hadoop cluster (Cloudera preferred), with all included services
  • Ability to solve any ongoing issues with operating the cluster
  • Proficiency with Hadoop v2, MapReduce, HDFS, Sqoop
  • Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources such as MsSQL
  • Server, Oracle
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, such as HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB (preferred)

Nice to have

  • Experience with various messaging systems, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • Experience with building stream-processing systems, using solutions such as Storm or Spark-Streaming
